The Men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc, Theta Omega Chapter, are proud to present the 2024 Jim Green Golf Classic. The event will be held on August 13, 2024 at the Polo Fields Country Club. The Jim Green Golf Classic is a major fundraising initiative of the Theta Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Theta Omega Inc., a 501 © (3) organization.

The Jim Green Golf Classic was founded by the Theta Omega to honor the legacy of our trailblazing member, Jim Green. Jim is one of the greatest athletes from the state of Kentucky.  He was the first African American student-athlete to graduate from UK. Jim is an inductee of eight Halls of Fame. During his athletic career, Jim boldly held the title as the world’s fastest
human. Despite facing open hostility at many competitions, Jim succeeded at the highest levels of collegiate sport. He was a two-time NCAA champion and earned All-America honors six times.

December 13, 2023-The Kentucky track and field program is happy to announce construction on the new Jim Green Track and Field Center has been completed. The facility officially opened Wednesday at a ceremony with the building’s namesake honoree, Jim Green, alongside family and friends, University President Dr. Eli Capilouto, UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart, Ambassador Kelly Craft, and UK Track and Field Director and Head Coach Lonnie Greene.

Funds raised from the event support our signature activity, the Men of Quality Mentoring Initiative. The mentoring program is a partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools and provides academic counseling, tutorial support, college preparatory support, and life skills counseling. Approximately 600 students attend and actively engage in our Men of
Quality Experience.

Additionally, the funds raised will help fund our scholarships and facilitate our essay contest. In honor of Jim, each year, we designate scholarships as The Jim and Eva Green Scholarships.
